In versions 1.7 and upwards of 42k Wordpress theme we have made it easier to add an image into the head section of the theme.
First thing you need to do is upload your image into the uploads folder of your blog. We do this via the Media menu on the Admin Panel and we click on Add New to add a new image.
Once you click this you will be presented with an upload form. Select the file you wish to use and upload it.
Your file will now be added to your blogs media library.
You can check it has upload properly by clicking on library from the media menu as well.
Once the image is uploaded go to Appearance/42k Theme Options then select Head from the menu.
Make sure image-head-no-website-name.php is selected from the Choice Of Headers drop down menu as seen in the image below.
Once this is done you need to add your image name and extension along with the image size into the boxes below.
The image name will be dependent on how you have set up your uploads folder. If you have your uploads folder set up to arrange everything into year/month folders you must state the year/month before the image name. For more information on organizing your uploads folder, please see this tutorial.
Once this is saved your image will be displayed in the header of your blog. In its default, the image will align on the left and in the top corner as below.
You probably dont want it aligned there! So we can use the margins around the image to align it a lot better.
Giving a margin around the top of 20px and 50px on the left brings the image to a more centered location. You will have to play around with these margins, so you can get the image where you want it. With our new margins in the image is aligned as so.
The image has a link attached to it by default to link back to your blogs home page as the website name would.

Marlies:
how can I get 42k version 1.8 of the theme? I downloaded and installed the theme a couple of days ago and it says that I have version 1.6 and so it is more difficult to add a header image as I have no option of choice of heads.
Factory42:
Sorry that was a mis-type. Its Version 1.7 that you should be after.
Alyson:
Hi there,
Installed 42k newest version and designed my own header, saved as a jpeg. I uploaded it to my media library, input the size and file name, as instructed but it won’t display. I tried using both the URL and the file name of the image but neither worked.
Factory42:
Hi Can you email me though the contact link with the website address and the address to the image. Thanks!
Marianne:
I’m having the same problem: can’t get the header image to display. It’s uploaded properly, etc. I also tried the url and the file name.
Help please!
Factory42:
Have sent you an email Marianne. We will sort it out!

Hi
When I click on your image address from your front page I get the address twice. Can you confirm that in your image name box it says “2010/02/Header-for-Blog.jpg” which is all it should need to reach the image.
saundra:
thanks for the quick response david! i found out i had to change the name of the image to include the date in front of the name of the file as follows 2010/02/Header-for-Blog.jpg anyone else having the same problem should try it.
Eric:
So.. I’m had the same problem. Perhaps a way to explain is the “image name” is the url starting with the date.
