42k AmberGreen front page is a great way of displaying posts on your front page. It uses two categories to control the layout at the top of the page with all the other relevant posts displayed below.

Installing

Once you have downloaded the theme you will need to decompress the zip file if your computer does not do it automatically for you. Once this is done you will need to upload the theme via FTP to your theme folder (this is the folder where all of your other themes reside)

When it has uploaded, please go to your Wordpress Admin Panels theme activation page and activate the theme in the same way you would do for any theme you wish to use. After this, the theme is activated. Please see below for instructions on how to edit the categories and images.

Setting The Categories

The top feature and the middle columns are controlled by categories. That means, that the Top Feature uses the newest post from one set category and the middle section takes the latest 4 stories from another category.

Top Feature

At the top of the front page is a single post with a large custom image. Using this style really gives a great presence for one of your posts, be that a great product you want to show off, or a story you think readers should see first. This area is controlled with a category, so it will only display the top post from that category.

The custom image Field for this post is named 350×200-image and the default image for this is called default.png and can be found in the images folder of the theme for when you wish to change your default image. The images are sized to 350px wide and 200px tall. We strongly recommend changing any images you want to use in those custom fields to match those sizes.

Middle Columns

The middle section of the page displays the four latest posts from a category set by you. The custom images for this section have a name of  235×125-image and the default image for these pictures is located in the Images folder of the theme and has the name block-default.png. These images are sized at 235px wide and 125px tall.
