Category Control

Ambergreen controls the layout of the front page stories by using Category numbers, so you can manually set which categories posts are shown for both the very top feature post and the 4 column posts that sit below it.

The first category will control the very top post and its custom image. This can be used for anything you want and will ensure that this post will always be the first thing your readers see on the site.

Below the top post are four column posts, controlled by the second user set category, allowing you to show the title, custom image and excerpt of four posts from one category displaying them with added prominence to your viewers.

This style of layout allows you to display major stories at the top of your site, no matter how long they have been published for, drawing extra publicity to anything from your latest products to your offered services.

42k Child Theme

This front page layout acts as a child theme for our free 42k Wordpress Theme.
This simply means that the only thing it changes is the front page layout, but retains all of the styles you have selected in 42k
This allows you to access and change everything as normal, using the 42k admin panels, with all your saved changes carried over; with the only difference being the layout of the front page of your site.

Custom Images

The main top story and the four column posts all use custom images to draw your viewers gaze towards them. These are easily controlled via the custom field panel in the post editor.
Its simple to add images to all your posts, but in case you ever forget a fall back default image is provided within the theme and of course this image can easily be changed by you at any time so you will never see a blank image space.

Requirements

42k Wordpress Theme must be installed for this child theme to work correctly. Its a free theme to use. We also recommend Wordpress 2.8 or above.
